JoAnne Musick - Cyber Crimes Bureau Chief

JoAnne M. Musick has been a licensed attorney in the State of Texas since 1998 and is also licensed to practice in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She received her law degree from South Texas College of Law in May 1998 and received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Sam Houston State University in 1991. JoAnne Musick is Board Certified in both Criminal Law and Juvenile Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

JoAnne began her legal career at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and has spent about 15 years in private practice focusing on criminal, juvenile, and family law before returning to the District Attorney’s Office in January 2017. Throughout her career, JoAnne has trained hundreds of prosecutors and defense attorneys, as well as police and students. She has tried over 100 criminal cases in both state and federal courts and has twice served as president of Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, the nations largest independent local criminal bar association. In private practice JoAnne received numerous honors including Lawyer of the Year and was named both a Rising Star and a Super Lawyer. She has served on the boards of numerous local, state, and national associations and is an established writer and contributor to local and national criminal law publications and blogs.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, JoAnne worked in accounting and information technology for a national grocery chain and a national oil and gas investment banking firm. She is a native Houstonian, wife, and mom.
