Mark Goldberg – Assistant District Attorney
Mark Goldberg, former Houston City Council Member and Houston First Corporation General Council, has joined the Harris County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney. He decided to return to line prosecution after a career in government and the private sector.
Mark served as the General Counsel of Houston First Corporation from 2013 to 2018. Houston First owns the Hilton Americas-Houston hotel, operates: George R. Brown Convention Center, Avenida Houston, Jones Hall, among other properties.
He was responsible for various legal matters including development of internal and external corporate policy, including crisis management, cyber security, corporate travel, construction and real estate related issues. He also worked with the Human Resources Department to advise on labor and employment matters.
From 2009-2012, Mark served as the Legal Advisor for Iraqi national projects stationed in Iraq as a consultant to Research Triangle Corporation in their efforts to strengthen the federal and provincial legislative bodies in Iraq.
Mark was elected to Houston City Council in December 1999 and re-elected twice thereafter. He served as Vice-Mayor Pro Tem. He spent over a decade working as a criminal defense attorney prior to serving on the Houston City Council.
Mark earned his BA from the University of Texas, and his JD from South Texas College of Law. He serves on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross, and is a Trustee at Houston’s Museum of Fine Arts. He previously served as a Board Member and mentor at Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and on the Advisory Board of the Houston Holocaust Museum.
