Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in finding additional victims of a former deputy constable accused of stealing from Vietnamese businesses while in uniform, District Attorney Kim Ogg announced Tuesday.
“He used a badge to coerce, intimidate and steal and we believe there are more victims who have yet to come forward,” Ogg said. “The community needs to know that everyone is accountable under the law whether they are wearing a uniform or not.”
A Cypress man was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without parole for killing a Good Samaritan on a New Year’s Day at a restaurant in Chinatown, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said Thursday.
“He was a ring leader who sent masked gunmen into a family restaurant,” Ogg said. “People deserve to be safe when they sit down to celebrate a holiday meal with the people they love.”
The second man responsible for killing an 11-year-old in a 2019 drive-by shooting was sentenced to life in prison for murder, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced Wednesday.
“These two men sprayed a home with 20 rounds from an AK-47 and a dozen rounds from a 9 mm handgun and killed a child while he should have been safe in his own bed,” Ogg said. “By using these high-powered and high-capacity guns, suspects can kill, wound and maim everyone in their path, including innocent children.”
One of three men arrested for the execution-style slaying of a Spring couple in a 2018 home invasion was automatically sentenced to life in prison without parole after being convicted of capital murder, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced Wednesday.
“Jenny and Bao Lam, who immigrated to America and built a prosperous life in Houston, were brutally killed during a home invasion in their gated community,” Ogg said. “The men responsible for their deaths broke in to rob, steal and kill, and they deserve to spend the rest of their lives in prison without the possibility of parole.”
“Pamela Turner’s killing was a tragedy for her family and community. Bringing excessive use of force charges against an officer is always difficult and uncomfortable. We respect the jury’s verdict.”
A political consultant was convicted Friday for a failed scheme intended to affect the outcome of the race for Texas House of Representatives District 132 during the 2020 election cycle, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced.
“At a time when threats against public servants are at an all-time high, it is critical to hold accountable those who would try to subvert the will of the people by coercing a state representative into dropping out of an election,” Ogg said. “We thank the jurors for their service.”
A child molester who assaulted three preteen girls beginning in 1999 was sentenced to life in prison by a Harris County jury, District Attorney Kim Ogg announced Friday.
“This predator attacked the children of his friends and acquaintances, and even took advantage of them after meeting them in church, where they should have been safest,” Ogg said. “He stole the innocence from these young girls to satisfy his own desires and now he’ll never again be a threat to any child anywhere.”
