Paul Fortenberry, Felony Trial Bureau Chief
Paul Fortenberry earned the rank of Eagle Scout before graduating from George Mason University in 2003. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2006.
Paul joined the Harris County District Attorney’s Office in 2006 and was promoted to District Court Chief in 2013. He was assigned to Special Crimes for six years.
He has trained hundreds of Assistant District Attorneys and law enforcement officers, including officers and agents from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Houston Police Department, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and other agencies on topics including the Fourth Amendment, child abuse, domestic violence and homicide. The Houston division of a federal agency named him prosecutor of the year in 2016. Paul has led the Felony Trial Bureau since 2021 and enjoys working with the women and men of that bureau, who dedicate themselves to making their community a safer place and to seeking justice.
