Shawna Reagin, Deputy Chief of-Courts

Shawna Reagin is deputy supervising attorney over prosecutors representing the State of Texas in every State Criminal Court in Harris County: the 16 Justice of the Peace Courts, 16 County Criminal Courts at Law and 23 State Criminal District Courts.

She received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston School of Law and is admitted to the State Bar, Federal Southern District of Texas and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Prior to joining the District Attorney’s Office, Shawna served as judge of the 176th Criminal District Court from 2009-12 and as a criminal defense attorney from 1989-2008. Since 2015, other professional accomplishments she has achieved include serving as grievance director for the Houston Federation of Teachers and as a criminal and education law consultant.

Outside the courthouse, Shawna has been an adult literacy tutor, an advocate for diabetes education and a supporter of many animal rescue projects.
